I have now lost around 3 articles in the past two months, so I have decided to implement an autosave feature. I will follow up with an article about this process as I work on it.

Reasons to develop this type of feature

Web-based content editors are dependent on the browser. If the browser crashes or is improperly moved forward or back, the form data is typically lost.

Authentication to the server is temporary. If the article writing process takes longer than the PHP session timeout, when the form is submitted, the article is lost and it is not trivial to get it back.
